UN releases Mahatma stamp

UNITED NATIONS: Marking the International Day of Non-Violence, the United Nations released a Mahatma Gandhi stamp on the occasion of his 140th birth anniversary. The United Nations Postal Administration released the $1 stamp designed by Miamibased artist Ferdie Pacheco.

The stamp shows the Father of the Nation in red, blue and gold. Envelopes marked with the stamp and the U.N. seal are on sale. Several U.N. envoys present at a function, organised
by the Indian Mission, reiterated the impact of the Mahatma’s
life.
“In many ways, Mahatma Gandhi pre-visioned the United Nations. Much of the work we do in the area of human rights owes its genesis in the struggle against racial discrimination, which he focused on,” said Ambassador to the U.N. Hardeep Singh Puri.
President of the General Assembly Ali Abdussalam Treki stressed upon Gandhiji’s commitment to communal harmony between the Muslims and the non-Muslims. Paying tributes to Gandhiji, United States Permanent Representative to the U.N., Susan Rice, said, “Gandhi had influenced millions of Americans. Gandhi believed that physical force could be
turned aside by moral forces.”

I am a student, and I like to explore. after graduating as an engineer, I chose to learn about the non technical stuff about life because I felt curious about them. Unlike the engineering, these fields of social life were more complicated and difficult to have any consensus or even logic. yet, I saw life somehow always flourishing! My attempt is to understand these complex social issues in life and present them in simple terms, and this blog is an humble attempt in that direction. currently I am preparing for the Civil services i.e. Indian administrative service which involves study of all aspects related with India, its society and its governance.

Wa Wa!!!

  4. Mr.Gandhi does seem very angry in that pic(contrary to his principles:How about this issue on our fully faltoo news channels)

I personally felt he is tired of being used in the corrupt deals(currency) and is angry rather at his own helplessness towards now being a stamp on a packet which may again contain notes of his own image and be transfered under his own portrait on the wall of an office on the M.G. road under some Mahatma Gandhi Bhrashtachar Nirmulan Scheme. I really feel for him.

By the way a news just flashed on a new corruption deal. All the money was delivered in cheques.no no there was no image there ..just afford a smile Mr.M
    (Sorry for being so cynical)
